Orhan Sekeramber
Violinist,
conductor Orhan Sekeramber has always encouraged us in our studies
without which we could not even imagine to give a try. He has
been around us in the earlier stages of Sunday workshops with
a lot of professional help. He has devoted his retirement yeas
to prepare a book on harmony about teaching of which he has
fresh ideas to simplify the burden of music students. |

other fine musicians we have been
honored to play together with
 |
Sabahattin Ozbas
Accordionist and bandinist. He has worked with Orhan Avsar (1917-1974)
a well known bandinist who brought Argentinean Tango to Turkey
from Buenos Aires. Their orchestra with its public performances
and programs on Istanbul Radio created the first generation
of fans of Argentinean Tango in this country. That era partially
overlap with the high days of Turkish Tango which is essentially
non Argentinean and represented by composers like Necip Celal
Andel, Fehmi Ege,Necdet Koyutürk and others.

Husnu Baykara
Born
in 1917 in Izmir. He is the youngest tango lover in Ankara.
His whole life has been devoted to music, dance, drama, poetry
and painting. These days he considers himself as a reproduction
painter - an excellent one we must admit seeing the works in
his study. For many years he has played professionally in well
known places of Istanbul. He talks about the accordions he has
as his children. Some of them are small and suitable for Tango,
but his 80 Bass is his favorite. He has bough tit in 1942 for
80 TL ( around 80 US Dollars at that time) He has a nice style
full of emotion (and also a soft singing voice) He told us about
playing styles of many Tango musicians who are lost in the pages
of previous century. |
Gölge Sekeramber
An
excellent soprano from Turkish State Opera. She now works at
Bilkent University, Ankara. She could not refuse our offer to
sing with us some best known Turkish tangos. A lovely, well
trained voice full of emotion, a fresh touch to tangos of Fehmi
Ege, Necdet Koyuturk and Necip Celal. |
